1. กิริยาแท้ ทำหน้าที่แสดงกริยาอาการที่แท้จริงของประธานในประโยคมีการเปลี่ยนรูป เช่น
subject Tense
I go to school every day. I goes to school every day.
He go to school every day. He went to school every day.
Voice mood
Someone killed the chicken.(Active) I recomend that he see doctor.
The chicken was killed.(Passive) If I were you,I wound not do it.
2.กริยาไม่แท้ เป็นคำที่มีรูปจากคำกริยาแต่ไม่ได้ทำหน้าที่คำกริยาแท้ มี 3 แบบ คือ
2.1.infinitive verb เป็นคำกริยาที่อยู่ในรูปกริยาช่องที่ 1 นำหน้าด้วย to ทำหน้าที่ noun , adjective และ adverb
- We must study to learn. ( to learn ทำหน้าที่ adverb)
2.2. Gerunds เป็นคำกริยาเติม ing ทำหน้าที่เป็นคำนาม เช่น
- I like running. ฉันชอบว่ายน้ำ. ( running เป็นกรรมของ like )
2.3.Participles คำกริยาที่เติม ing หรือ กริยาช่องที่ 3 ที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นคำคุณศัพท์ มี 2 แบบคือ
- Present Participles เป็นคำกริยาที่เติม ing เช่น
The crying baby had a wet diaper. เด็กที่ร้องอยู่นั้นผ้าอ้อมเปียก ( crying เป็นคำคุณศัพท์ขยาย baby )

- Past Participles เป็นคำกริยาช่องที่3 เช่น The broken glass is on the floor.
3.. กริยาช่วย ทำหน้าที่ช่วยคำกริยาหลัก เช่น
I has gone the United state.
3.1. Verb to be ( is , am , are , was , were ) แปลว่า เป็น, อยู่ , คือ
3.2 Verb to have ( has , have , had ) แปลว่า มี 3.3. Verb to do ( do , dose, did ) แปลว่า ทำ
4..การเปลี่ยนรูปของคำ ( conjugation ) เช่น
Regular Verbs เป็นคำกริยาที่เติม ed เมื่อเป็น past และ past participle เช่น
walk walked walked
work worked worked
stop stopped stopped
Irregular Verbs เป็นคำกริยาที่มีรูป past และ past participle ต่างไปจากรูปเดิมหรือคงรูปเดิม เช่น
run ran run
write wrote written
drink drank drunk
